Cross Country

Cross country running involves running over two miles on trails. We practice a minimum of four days per week (sometimes five) from 4:00-5:00 P.M. at Highland Oaks Park. We run on the path around the lake, which is .55 miles long. It helps if students do some
running over the summer to prepare for the season, which runs from late August to late October. Runners are welcome to run our remaining summer sessions on July 12, August 9, and August 16. 

Summer sessions are from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. at Highland Oaks Park (at the lake area). If you bring your child to the sessions, you must sign a permission form (which I will provide) before your child can run. Summer sessions are NOT required for a child to run on the team, but are offered as OPTIONAL to get a sense of your child's fitness. No previous running experience is required to try out for
the team.

The Highland Oaks cross country team has been very successful over the last several years. Our JV boys and varsity boys were runners up in the 2012 and 2013 county finals respectively, as were the JV girls in 2015. Our JV girls won the county championship in 2014, and last year's varsity girls placed third.
